Bruce Swedien is an audio engineer and music producer of Scandinavian descent born in Minneapolis in 1934. He is in particular known for his work with Michael Jackson.


He is a five time Grammy winner and was 13 times nominated for the Grammy. He made the best-sold album in the world, Thriller Michael Jackson, he was the sound engineer at the mixing board and worked many years with Jackson.


Recorded and mixed by him the following artists and soundtracks:
Jazz: Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Dizzy Gillespie, Lionel Hampton, Quincy Jones, Oscar Peterson, Herbie Hancock, Jeff Oster; Pop: Patti Austin, Natalie Cole, Roberta Flack, Mick Jagger, Jennifer Lopez, Paul McCartney, Diana Ross, Rufus and Chaka Khan, Barbra Streisand, Donna Summer, Sarah Vaughan; Scores: Night Shift, The Color Purple, Running Scared .


On 10 November 2001 he was awarded for his achievements as a sound engineer honorary doctorate in philosophy from the Technical University Luleå, Sweden. In conjunction with this, Swedien held "master classes" at the Swedish National Radio for practicing sound engineers.
